Defending from the Attacker’s Perspective: The "White Hacker" and Science Engineer
Masatsugu Murase

-
Masatsugu began his career in the IT security department, applying his background in physics and his strength in analysis to data processing and analysis.
-
Currently he is expanding his skills by studying practical attack techniques and has earned the highly regarded international certification, Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP). CDL specializes in “defense through understanding attack”—conducting intrusion exercises and vulnerability assessments in virtual environments to strengthen security.
-
Masatsugu continues to refine his skills and increase his experience, guided by CDL’s principle of “thinking like an attacker to build stronger defenses” and methodical approach of diligently examining issues step-by-step.
- Specialization and Career
-
Masatsugu majored in physics and began his career in the IT security department, where he worked in data analysis. At first glance, physics and IT may seem unrelated, but both share a common foundation in data analysis—whether the data comes from natural phenomena or is generated by human activity.
- Growth at CDL
-
Masatsugu obtained the international certification OSCP which emphasizes practical skills in white-hat hacking and penetration testing. The OSCP is earned through a rigorous hands-on examination. The credential demonstrates his technical ability to penetrate attack surfaces and escalate privileges. He is deeply grateful to his colleagues and seniors for their support in achieving this milestone, and his next goal is to pursue an even higher-level certification.
- Future Goals
-
-
Outside of work, Masatsugu is mindful of the idea that “the world is always wider than you realize.” He believes that only spending time with like-minded people can narrow one’s perspective, so he makes an effort to engage with a variety of people and experiences. By exposing himself to diverse viewpoints and “touching various possibilities,” he finds new inspiration that also benefits his work. Masatsugu hopes to continue valuing this approach in the future.
